Martin Jaqua received his undergraduate degree with honors from
Linfield College in 1982, and his J.D. from the University of
Oregon School of Law in 1985. He was admitted to the Oregon
State Bar in 1986, and the Washington State Bar in 1987. He
is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court
for the District of Oregon, and the United States Court of Appeals
for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Jaqua was formerly with the Portland firms of Gordon &
Polscer, LLP, Lane Powell Spears Lubersky, LLP, and The Rickles
Law Firm's predecessor firms, Holmes & Rickles and Holmes
DeFrancq & Schulte. He has extensive experience in the insurance
defense and insurance coverage fields, from initial analysis
through the appeals process; and has handled cases involving
product liability, commercial liability, construction defect,
environmental, personal injury, and automobile accidents. Mr.
Jaqua also has handled cases involving consumer litigation,
business and real estate litigation, bankruptcy-related litigation,
and attorney malpractice and professional liability defense.
Mr. Jaqua has extensive experience assisting in many jury trials
and has tried numerous arbitrations. He has also handled many
mediation and settlement conferences on behalf of clients.
He is a member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel,
on the Defense Panel with the Oregon State Bar Professional
Liability Fund, and a former member of the Defense Research
Institute. Mr. Jaqua is also a member of the Multnomah Bar Association.
Mr. Jaqua carries a "BV" rating from Martindale Hubbell,
indicating high to very high legal ability and very high ethical
standards, as voted by fellow attorneys in the state.
